This Master’s programme in Healthcare Informatics equips you with the essential skills to address complex healthcare challenges using digital technologies and data analytics.
In the first trimester, you’ll build a strong foundation in strategic information systems, database management, and research methods, with a focus on designing culturally appropriate systems for Māori and Pasifika health services.

Strategic Information Systems Planning:This course equips you with the expertise to align information systems with organisational goals and drive strategic improvements. You will learn to critically evaluate current systems, identify opportunities, and develop tailored solutions for complex challenges in business settings.
Information Systems Analysis and Design:This course equips with the skills to design and develop effective information systems tailored to diverse organisational needs. You will learn to evaluate data models, apply user-centered design, and implement various SDLC methodologies. A strong focus is placed on cultural perspectives and rigorous requirements gathering to address user needs effectively.
Database Management Systems:This course provides a comprehensive foundation in database management, focusing on designing, implementing, and managing. IT Project Management : You will gain expertise in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management, learning to select and apply the right project management methodologies, such as Agile, Waterfall, and PRINCE2.
Business Strategy and Direction This course provides a comprehensive understanding of core business principles and management practices, particularly for students without traditional business backgrounds. You will explore the core concepts of business, delve into the strategic decision-making process, learning how businesses conduct market analysis, identify competitive advantages, and formulate strategies for long-term success.
Business Data Analytics with Visualisation and Decision-Making:
This course builds on the foundation of MBI805B, advancing students’ skills in business data analytics with a focus on AI and Machine Learning (ML) techniques. Students will learn to extract insights from complex datasets, create impactful data visualisations, and integrate findings into business decision-making. The course provides hands-on experience with industry-standard tools, enabling the development of predictive models to solve real-world challenges.
Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing:
This course equips students with advanced skills in designing and implementing Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing systems. Students will learn methods for managing large datasets, data modelling, and transforming raw data into actionable business insights. Practical experience includes working with BI tools for data analysis, reporting, and visualisation, as well as integrating big data sources to enhance analytics capabilities.
